Europe long-distance cycle path R1

The international long-distance European cycle route R1 from Boulogne-sur-mer in France to St. Petersburg in Russia runs through the foothills of the Harz Mountains in Saxony-Anhalt. This well-developed cycle path leads from Goslar via Stapelburg, Ilsenburg and Wernigerode past the Michaelstein Monastery and up to Blankenburg (Harz). Cyclists can spend a well-deserved overnight stay here before continuing eastwards via Thale and Ballenstedt to the historic Anhalt region.

The Volksbank Arena Harz has designated 74 MTB routes with a total length of 2,200 kilometres and around 59,000 meters of differing altitude.
