Castle Ensemble

The Counts of Blankenburg and Regenstein once ruled here. After the Regenstein family of Counts ended at the end of the 16th century, the castle fell back to the Duchy of Braunschweig-Lüneburg, whose current head Ernst August von Hannover still owns land in the Blankenburg area.

The court of Blankenburg (Harz) was once famous for its glittering festivals and theatrical performances. To this day Blankenburg blood still flows through the veins of European nobility. The Large Castle, the Little Castle and the Baroque Gardens of Blankenburg form this unique castle ensemble.
